ImageEarlier this year, Burnsville Police Chief Bob Hawkins announced that he will retire this December after eight years as Chief (and 25 years on the Burnsville Police force). Burnsville Breakfast Rotarians immediately began searching for a way to honor his years of service to our community. Bob noted the Police force needs to replace several Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), used by first responders to help restore regular heart rhythm and save lives during a heart attack.  Rather than celebrate his own career, Chief Hawkins' main focus was enhancing the force’s ability to save lives when they encounter a person experiencing a heart attack.

In celebration of a job well done, the Burnsville Breakfast Rotary presented Chief Hawkins with a $2,500 check to purchase one replacement AED at our breakfast meeting on Oct. 26,

“We are proud of the passion Chief Bob and the entire Burnsville Police Department have for keeping our city safe, and are happy to celebrate his career with a potentially life-saving donation,” says Jack Vander Waal, Burnsville Breakfast Rotary president.
